Day 10: Spirits

This beautiful sculpture of a jazz/brass band stands at the entrance to the New Orleans quarter at the Trafford Centre. It was created by Colin E. Spofforth and is titled The Spirit of New Orleans. I wanted to move on from this by asking you, yes you, what you think about Spirits the word has many different meanings and has very different levels of complexity and I would like to know what you think about "Spirits or spirit" It doesn't take long just got to the bottom of these post and write a comment you don't even have to leave a name if you do not want too. I think I should start by saying that in my opinion Spirit is the a combination of peoples feelings that come together as one and it has a sort of energy that you can feel even thought it does not actually exists. Which I think I can say the same for spirits but instead its the combination of such strong feelings for people that have gone and passed on that they become the same sort of combined energy which allows us to feel them even thought they do not exist. That is a quick summery of my own opinion about  "Spirits or spirit" I would love to hear if you think the same or you can elaborate or something totally different. I want to know what you think!
Now some random facts!
The English word spirit (from Latin spiritus "breath") has many differing meanings and connotations, all of them relating to a non-corporeal substance contrasted with the material body. The spirit of a human being is thus the animating, sensitive or vital principle in that individual, similar to the soul taken to be the seat of the mental, intellectual and emotional powers. The notions of a person's "spirit" and "soul" often also overlap, as both contrast with body and both are imagined as surviving the bodily death in religion and occultism, and "spirit" can also have the sense of "ghost", i.e. manifestations of the spirit of a deceased person. The term may also refer to any being imagined as incorporeal or immaterial, such as demons or deities, in Christianity specifically the Holy Spirit experienced by the disciples at the Pentecost.

  3. To me spirit is when a group of you are getting ready for a pep rally or game or just going out and your all getting super syked and amped up with tons of good energy! Spirits to me are what my family experiences on a daily basis at our homes. My whole family seems to have spirits that have followed us in life? One i know is a child and they do not hurt us or try too, but it can get pretty scary at times when you are alone and you feel something jump on your bed or tug at your shirt or move a bottle? I think people dont believe in spirits until they actually have a personal experience with it. Which i have all my life so it is something that is real for us, even though you cant see it, you feel it. Its very real!

  4. I guess for me it's either a specter, or in the case of the image the feel of a city or place giving it its own identity (Not sure if I explained this right).
