Now some random facts!
The dog(Canis lupus familiaris and Canis lupus dingo) is a domesticated form of the gray wolf, a member of the Canidae family of the order Carnivora. The term is used for both feral and pet varieties. The dog was the first animal to be domesticated, and has been the most widely kept working, hunting, and companion animal in human history. The word "dog" may also mean the male of a canine species, as opposed to the word "bitch" for the female of the species.
Dogs were domesticated from gray wolves about 15,000 years ago. They must have been very valuable to early human settlements, for they quickly became ubiquitous across world cultures. Dogs perform many roles for people, such as hunting, herding, pulling loads, protection, assisting police and military, companionship, and, more recently, aiding handicapped individuals. This impact on human society has given them the nickname "Man's best friend" in the western world. In 2001, there were estimated to be 400 million dogs in the world.

ReplyDeleteHow adorable is this dog! :) looking at this pic just makes me super smile! Hee hee. Its interesting to learn that dogs come from wolves! I love almost all animals, and at one point in my life as a child i had 7 dogs-ranging from a chuhaua to a german sheppard to a pitbull. And they were all awesome dogs! If i could have a dog it would be a bulldog or a pug! But i can't because my apartment rules! :( but as i have gotten older i think i love cats more, they are easier to take care of and i create better relationships with them. Dogs are more fun though, so there are pros and cons to both! :)
